1958年の映画「軍曹さんは暇がない」のTV化。空軍基地を舞台に、田舎から出て来たお人好しの新兵が軍曹とともに数々の珍事件を巻き起こす軍隊コメディ。

原作はマック・ハイマン元米軍中尉の書いたベスト・セラー小説"No Time for Sergeants"
