原題 The Saint
1965年2月15日から10月11日にかけて日本テレビ系列でカラー版30話が放映。
その後、モノクロ版が毎日放送／テレビ東京から「ヨーロッパ秘密命令」「テンプラーの華麗な冒険」のタイトルで放映された。

レスリー・チャタリス（Leslie Charteris）原作の冒険小説
をハリー・W・シュキンスが脚色。「東にスパイあれば飛んで行って国際陰謀を裁き、西に正体不明の怪獣出れば鮮やかな科学捜査でねじ伏せる。警察なんかてんでお呼びじゃない。でも美人だったら大歓迎。粋でスマートで腕力はめっぽう強く、事件の現場に残す天使のいたずら書き。だから人呼んで天国野郎。それが現代のヒーロー、サイモン・テンプラーだ。」（オープニング・ナレーション）
サイモン・テンプラーは、スリルと冒険を求め世界中を旅しているハンサムで大金持ちの英国紳士であるが、実は変装が得意な大泥棒。時にはロンドン警視庁（スコットランドヤード）や英国情報部の依頼を受けてスパイ活動にも従事する。
犯行現場には指紋一つ残さないくせに、12使徒のイタズラ書きを残すことから「セイント」と呼ばれる。
